chasing WATERFALLS

All the snow on the Olympics has to go somewhere... The massive rainfall each year gives life to the hanging mosses of these Northwest rainforests. While on the top the Olympic Mountains, this moisture lands as snow, frosting the peaks as much as 35 feet each year. The result is a trail of beautiful and dramatic waterfalls lining the foot of the range.

Enjoy the adventure of finding the falls as much as the Falls themselves! Northwest Washington State is home to the Olympic Mountains and three of the four temperate rainforests on the planet. Receiving over 150 inches of precipitation annually, the Hoh, Quinault and Queets are located on the costal foothills of the Olympics. Mount Olympus receives over 260” of rain each year. That’s 21 feet of precipitation. The result is a myriad of spectacular waterfalls lacing the entire area. Renowned guidebook writer and trail advocate, Craig Romano, shared 25 of his favorite waterfall viewing destinations with us. Start planning your trip now!
