Join Capitol Land Trust and the Black Hills Audubon Society for a peaceful birding outing at Bayshore Preserve in Shelton on Saturday, May 3, from 8:30 to 11:30 AM. Explore a former golf course turned nature preserve while learning about local bird species in a supportive, beginner-friendly environment.

Participants will enjoy a 1.5-mile walk along streams, oak groves, and the Puget Sound shoreline, with opportunities to observe birds and learn identification tips along the way.

Trail Details:

  • Mostly flat, dirt and gravel surface

  • Short inclines/declines

  • May be muddy in sections

  • Portable toilet available

  • Trails not wheelchair accessible

What to Bring:

  • Weather-appropriate clothing

  • Closed-toed shoes

  • Water & a snack

  • Binoculars, scope, field guide, or camera
    (Binoculars available to borrow in limited supply)

  • All participants must complete a 2025 waiver

  • Minors under 16 must be accompanied by an adult and have a completed Minor Waiver Release

  • Minors 16+ may attend solo with a signed Minor Waiver
