Head to Hoodsport to recreate a local version of a Scandinavian tradition at the 3rd Annual Fjordin Crossin — crossing of Hood Canal with a barrel of aquavit accompanied by a flotilla of paddlers. Celebrate this fun event with a street fair in Hoodsport including a barrel procession with the Sons of Norway, seafood vendors, kids activities and music and cool down under the Hoodsport pier with a drink at the Aquavit Grotto!

The Lady Alderbrook departs from the dock at the Alderbrook Resort. Ticket includes one Fjord Mist cocktail and a 2 hour cruise. Book your ticket online and call 360.898.2200 for more information.
#3 – Watch from the Aquavit Grotto … very little energy, high enjoyment
A secret hideaway under the boardwalk… Yes, the underside pier forms a cool and inviting “grotto” to enjoy aquavit. Local oysters prepared by Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group and Scandinavian specialties are on the menu from the following vendors: Nina's at Lake Cushman (Swedish Meatballs); The Tides Family Restaurant (Clam Chowder, Shrimp Skewers); Union City Market (Locally-made Popsicles)
PARKING WILL BE AT COLUMBIA BANK (no parking allowed at the IGA store) and attendees will enjoy the walk through the community street fair at select businesses along Hwy 101. There will be parking spots at the Hoodsport Library with an attendant there too.
Preliminary Schedule:
12:00 noon:
On-site registration for Paddle the Canal begins.
The Lady Alderbrook departs from the dock at the Alderbrook Resort.
Food vendors at the Hoodsport dock are open. Local oysters and Scandinavian specialties are on the menu.
Street Fair by local businesses (art at the Distillery, Sunshine Creations, M4 Realty and more)
1:00 pm:
Aquavit Procession from the Distillery begins featuring the Sons of Norwaycarrying the Aquavit barrel with owners Chuck and Jan. Captain Lee Geist and his boat the Twanoh will set sail and officially cross the Canal "Fjordin."
Paddle the Canal participants follow the Twanoh.
Those on board the Lady Alderbrook toast the festivities.
2:00 pm (approximately):
The Twanoh returns to the Hoodsport dock.
Paddle the Canal participants return to the dock.
Awards ceremony and prizes for Paddle the Canal.
2:30 – 5:00 pm
"Efterfest" aka the Swedish word for "After Party" at the Distillery where Chuck will be bottling the Aquavit and offer complimentary samples to taste. Cocktails for purchase will be available.
